At only R10 on weekdays and R5 on weekends, you can take a tour of Cheetah Outreach to see the cheetahs and a range of other interesting animals. For a fee of between R90 and R250, you’ll be able to stroke and pet the adult cheetahs and the cute cheetah cubs. The encounters with the smaller animals are a favourite among children and they can spend ages petting and cuddling the meerkats, bat-eared foxes and other baby animals. Keep the camera ready for these sweet moments!
And for a special treat, arrange to watch the adult cheetahs do what they do best: run. A lure system, similar to what is used for greyhound racing gets fitted to a large enclosure and when it shoots off, you’ll quickly realise how the cheetah got the title of the fastest land animal in the world – and why this magnificent animal should be protected.
After a day at Cheetah Outreach, it’s almost impossible not to fall in love with these gentle animals. People come from all over the world to interact with the cheetahs, and to do their part in saving them from extinction.
